I'm currently working for FM Global, an industry leading engineering & insurance company, as a DBA. I've done development of large scale applications in languages such as VB, C# and Java. I've worked in SQL Server from the hoary days of 6.0. My nickname at work is the "The Scary DBA." I even have an official name plate with it. I wear it proudly. I was awarded a Microsoft MVP in April of '09.

good training

I would have rated it a 5 if it had gone morwe into detail about the Query Plan objects (unless you have another video that does this)

Paul Bhupal on 9/23/2008
Short but sweet.

Mark Redfern on 9/24/2008
So what do you do next?

Grant Fritchey on 9/24/2008
The idea behind the video was just to put across the basic concept. If you click the author link, there are a ton of other videos that explain a lot of the other operators. The video titled "How to fix a bookmark lookup" gets into methods of actually fixing stuff like table scans and key lookups.

Mark and Richard, There are a ton more videos available from Grant. If you still want to see a video that explains something in more detail, use the "Suggest a Video" link at the top right of this page to let us know what you want.

Video seems like it was pulled out of a larger video.

Grant Fritchey on 1/16/2009
To 32B941FBF4 (can I call you 32 for short?), Nope 32. It's just a really short video meant to define the operator within an execution plan. From the comments though, more is needed.

The message table scan has to be avoided was very clear
