SSIS Configurations

In this session, Brian shows you how to use configuration files or a configuration file to dynamically configure your packages. With configuration files, you can seamlessly migrate an SSIS package from QA to production without worry and without having to reconfigure the package.

which version of flash is required for this.

A quick easy to understand explanation just when I needed it. Thanks.

I liked the demo. Thank you.

Just what I needed!

Phil Rothenberg on 3/9/2009
I would have liked to have seen more about using environment variables to point to the location of the config files. What happens if you have multiple config files in the same folder and you select the option to use the environment variable for the location? Which config file(s) does the package use?

Jeremy Pryor on 4/30/2009
Brian is an excellent presenter. This was short but packed with the exact information I needed. That is a perfect combination for me. Thanks!

Very good !

prashant on 5/7/2009
Good one brian

Michael on 5/14/2009
Liked the video, would've been useful to see the configuration file deployed and used in a mock production environment like scenario.

Rob Long on 5/29/2009
Very useful. Glad I found it.

Julie Moseley on 6/3/2009
as usual brian save my butt again!

John R deCoville on 6/16/2009
The "Snippet" is a little too Snippy to get a good view of the huge terrain that is SSIS

Dwight Barker on 7/8/2009
I am surprised that an end user would need to go in and modify an XML configuration file. Is there really not a friendly tool for that purpose?

Abhishek on 9/2/2009
Too Good....Voice was Clear this time.....Vedio was Clear.

Harit Kalathia on 9/21/2009
It is an excellent video, it would have been better if deployment with configuration file was included too.

logesh on 9/28/2009
I have enabled package configuration for the set of properties that I have identified now and has been used by many developers across packages. In future, if I have to add few more new variables that I would want to reflect in all the packages. How do I do that? Is Package Configuration the right option?

Guillaume Chauvat on 10/16/2009
The video doesn't show how to migrate from a development environment to a production one, keeping dev config in dev, and prod config in prod.

yaniv on 11/8/2009
too fast, good stf

Cole Knight on 12/3/2009
As always, excellent job.

Brian, These videos are great! They complement/augment/refresh the end to end training class in awesome fashion. I'm building an SSIS package that I need to test on a different server before I move it to production and I remembered from class that the connections could be handled dynamically, just couldn't remember exactly how. A simple 12 minute video and voila'. Thanks very much.

Leon on 1/27/2010
To the point and educational.

nick on 2/7/2010
