Private Classes

For larger companies it often makes sense for us to bring the class to you instead of sending students to us. We're glad to work with you on scheduling classes at your facility, just contact us!

When considering private classes, here are some things to consider:

  • You'll need a training machine for each student loaded with SQL 2008 Developer Edition and the latest service pack applied. We prefer that this not be their production machine so that we there is no chance of 'breakage' and we also prefer not to use virtual machines to avoid the overhead.
  • You will also need a room for training that has enough space and power plus a projector. Conference rooms work but are not as good as a dedicated training room. If space is short you can consider leasing space from a nearby hotel but that adds cost and set up time each day.
  • We'll provide you with any files that need to be installed prior to the class. Usually this just consists of copying them to each student machine in advance and doesn't require any knowledge of SQL Server. We'll also provide an electronic version of any documents for the class, you will need to print one per student.
  • We can tweak classes as needed. Adding or reducing portions, more focus on your existing environment, and more. Minor changes are free,  more extensive alterations may involve additional charges that we would discuss and get your approval in advance.
  • We negotiate a price that includes all expenses - you'll know exactly what your cost is up front!

There are a lot of benefits to having a class onsite; lower overall cost, no lost time due to travel, employees train together and can talk about how ideas relate to their work environment.

Mentoring

Want to learn just a subset of a class? Or maybe struggling with a particular problem or area of technology and need some personalized coaching? That's a perfect for our mentoring approach. We do a short call with you to review the areas of interest and then we look to see if we have someone available with the necessary skills for dates that match your schedule. It can be an hour or several days, online or in person. Contact us to discuss the options!
